CNN has striking footage of Turkish journalists being shot while recently covering the outbreak of war in Georgia.
Turkish journalists attacked in Georgia – CNN.com
It’s a terrible reminder of how dangerous war coverage is for journalists. It also never fails to amaze me how quickly and awfully things can turn out in such places.
Watch the video closely; after the vehicle stops, the driver takes off his shirt, not to bandage his friend, but to wipe down and then discard a rifle – the muzzle can be seen clearly along with the triggerguard if you pay attention. It appears the Turkish journalists who got shot, were indeed armed, and after stopping their vehicle, walked unarmed towards the checkpoint that apparently opened fire on them – none of this “I don’t know who shot at us “stuff…
Good point.
I wondered if it was a) a rifle b) a lock for the steering wheel. I thought it was “b”, but I could be wrong. Even if it was c) none of the above, it is dangerous to be there (as can be seen from the Georgian journalist who was shot and the Fox news reporter who was apparently shot at too.
“such places”?
“Such places of danger”. Not necessarily Georgia, but anyplace as dangerous as that. In an instance, things can go very badly.
you guys have a great imagination.. this is a monopod for camera. they are journalists. what “rifle” are you talking about ? huh.
