according to the BBC News, they are thinking of allowing proper nouns to come into play in Scrabble rule change. Proper Nouns!? Madness! Next they’ll be letting you form words on the diagonal! 🙂
I am not a conservative person by default, but when it comes to such things as Scrabble, I think the way the game is currently designed is perfectly fine.

As you have no doubt heard by now, the story reported by the BBC about Mattel changing the rules of Scrabble, was misleading, if not inaccurate, to say the least. This is yet another wonderful example of the increasing lack of credibility in the area of media journalism. Everybody wants to be the first one with the “big story”. In this case, someone heard a rumour to the effect that Mattel was changing the rules of Scrabble, when in actual fact, Mattel is actually introducing a new, modified version of the game in an effort to increase/expand its current Scrabble market. The new game, Scrabble Trickster, actually sounds like a lot of fun. For more info, see :http://www.time.com/time/arts/article/0,8599,1978438,00.html
That’s one explanation. The other is that Mattel did this as a way of promoting their new game. A) Get everyone riled about about the change and get alot of buzz. Check! B) Once you have everyone’s attention, explain it is not Classic Scrabble but a new PRODUCT, Scrabble Trickster. Check! C) Save a ton on promotion costs. Check!
Good comment, though!! I appreciate that and all the comments from folks. It makes blogging much more enjoyable!
