When I read this article (6 Food Mistakes Parents Make) I thought: I do just the opposite of many of these things. And for good reason! I tried following some of these rules, and found when I did the opposite, I got a better result. Results trump rules.
As a parent, it helps to have guidelines, especially when you are uncertain. But you should always do what’s best for your child, not what may work for children generally.
I could definitely relate to this article!!!
Amy has ALWAYS been a very “picky” eater. No matter WHAT I prepared for dinner, or school lunches….she refused to eat! 😦
In grade 8 she would only eat, plain, white rice!..occasionally “jazzed up” with cucumber!
Last year, it was a steady diet of Mr.Noodle by the case!! (+ LOTS of chocolate)
This year, she is eating a much wider variety of foods, but sems to have a penchant for “Dr.Oetker” frozen pizza…..(no meat)
The Dr. says that as long as her weight is normal, not to worry. (She also takes a multi-vitamin, and “grazes” on whole-grains (granola bars) throughout the day.
