Who will be the big losers in the recent price drops in cloud computing?

Over at The Motley Fool, there is this article, The Big Losers in the Cloud Pricing Wars, that talks about recent price drops for services at Amazon and Google and how these price drops will affect the cloud computing business. (The Cloud Pricing Wars is very dramatic – I am not sure it is an all out battle at this point: we need more time to see if that becomes the case)

Anyone interested in cloud computing should check it out.

  1. I guess the article they had just stated the obvious. Big players are not affected as much as those little ones that are trying to get into the market.

It’d be interesting if the government decides on providing a public cloud of course they need to make other things public first. However, because of the way the crown corporations used to be run, I doubt there would be enough public trust to do it.

Good points, Archie. I posted it partially because someone asked me about the topic the other day. Since they were wondering, I bet other people are too. Also, I posted it because I wanted to have a marker to look at a year from now (I often read posts from a year ago to see what has changed.)
